Wunderbaum ha realizzato, con il regista Mijke de Jong, un docu-fiction, in cui gli attori, convinti che il teatro non basti a fare la differenza, smettono di fingere di agire e passano davvero all’azione, nel tentativo di cambiare radicalmente il mondo.
Ognuno di loro sviluppa un proprio progetto idealistico, ma la difficoltà di realizzazione delle proprie idee, la gelosia, la competizione e la mancanza di comprensione mettono sempre di più sotto pressione il gruppo.
L’obiettivo del progetto è quello di indagare l’entità del nostro impegno personale per una causa comune.
Alla proiezione fa seguito un incontro teatralizzato, in cui gli attori riflettono su quello che è accaduto. Il loro impegno e idealismo ha davvero prodotto qualche risultato? Sono tornati a dedicarsi al teatro? E si considerano ancora un gruppo?

Wunderbaum è un collettivo di performer olandesi che dal 2001 realizza performance e progetti che affrontano temi sociali coinvolgendo attivamente la cittadinanza, in spazi teatrali e non. Partendo dalla ricerca e dalla pratica teatrale, Wunderbaum realizza collettivamente le drammaturgie portate in scena e occasionalmente affida invece ad autori la stesura di testi originali. Wunderbaum ha portato in scena i propri progetti dall’Europa al Nord America, dal Medio Oriente al Sud America, prendendo parte a importanti festival internazionali come Theater der Welt, Under the Radar (Los Angeles), The Wiener Festwochen, Tempo Festival (Rio de Janeiro), Ruhrtriennale e Holland Festival. Il gruppo ha ricevuto il Mary Dresselhuys Award, il VSCD Proscenium Award, e il Total Theatre Award al Fringe Festival di Edimburgo nel 2014.
Wunderbaum ha sede presso la Rotterdamse Schouwburg ed è parte della coalizione Theater Rotterdam, sostenuta dal Performing Arts Fund della Città di Rotterdam, Dipartimento della Cultura.

The Rotterdam Actors’ Group Wunderbaum has created the docudrama Stop Acting Now, in cooperation with director Mijke de Jong. In this film, leading actors stop acting and switch over to real action. We follow the actors’ frantic efforts to radically change the world.
Everyone of them started an idealistic project, but the differences in approach and vision are increasingly putting the group under considerable pressure. The central objective is the issue of the actual extent of our personal engagement for the common cause.
After the film, a theatrical Q&A will follow, during which the veteran actors frankly look back on these turbulent events. Did their engagement and idealism actually yield any results? Did they ever start to act again? And anyway, are they still together?

Wunderbaum is a Dutch-Flemish actors’ group that makes theatre about current issues, both on location and in the theatre. Usually Wunderbaum writes their own texts collectively, based on their own research. Every now and then they give instructions to authors who will write a text for them. Wunderbaum played shows in home country The Netherlands and abroad, including the U.S., Iran, Scandinavia and Brazil, taking part in important international festival, such as Theater der Welt, Under the Radar (Los Angeles), The Wiener Festwochen, Tempo Festival (Rio de Janeiro), Ruhrtriennale and Holland Festival.
The group received the Mary Dresselhuys Award and VSCD Proscenium Award for their entire oeuvre, as well as the Total Theatre Award during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014.
Wunderbaum is based in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg, is part of the coalition Theater Rotterdam and subsidized by the Performing Arts Fund and City of Rotterdam, Department of Arts and Culture.
