STOP AND DANCE WITH ME
una performance di IfHuman

Stop and Dance with Me è concedersi un ballo. Coppie di sconosciuti per strada si ritrovano a ballare in una bolla di musica, che solo loro possono ascoltare. Fugaci incontri danzanti, a volte lenti, a volte sfrenati; è il performer a scegliere il tipo di danza e di atmosfera. Intorno i passanti si fermano, spiano, guardano la muta danza di queste coppie effimere.

IfHuman, fondato nel 2012 da Gaia Saitta e Julie Anne Stanzak, è un collettivo di performer di diversa nazionalità e percorso artistico, con sede a Bruxelles. La natura meticcia ed eterogenea del gruppo nasce dalle interferenze delle storie dei suoi membri e opta per la fragilità delle forme in favore della vitalità e del rischio. Fear and Desire è la prima creazione del collettivo, chiamato a debuttare da Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui al Festival Equilibrio di Roma (2013). Nel 2014 il collettivo collabora con Artesis, conservatorio di danza di Anversa, l’Unione Musicale di Torino e Torino Danza. Nel 2016 è in residenza presso il centro culturale Westrand di Dilbeek. Dal 2013 IfHuman è associato a Les Halles de Schaerbeek di Bruxelles.

Stop and dance with me is based on a simple idea: propose to a stranger to dance a song with you.

Five performers in the street are swinging, offering a dance to the passers-by. Each of them has a pair of earphones, one for him or herself and one to give to whoever wants to participate. Couple of strangers dance together in a bubble of a music, which only they can hear.
We watch dancing meetings, sometimes slow and sometimes wild: the performer chooses music and atmosphere.

IfHuman was born in 2010 as a collective of performers from different nationalities and artistic backgrounds (actors, dancers, directors, video artists), based in Brussels. This melting pot is the essential condition for a research flowing from the interferences of the members’ stories, choosing the vitality, the fragility and the riskiness over the form.
Since 2013 they have made the theatrical performances Fear and Desire (2013), All of Me (2013) in collaboration with the Dance Conservatory in Antwerp, Stop and Dance with Me (2013), Ne parlez pas d’amour (2014), Useless Movement (2015).
If Human is associated artist to Les Halles de Schaerbeek (Brussels). In 2016, If Human is artist in residence in Westrand Dilbeek.
